Thank you all for hanging in there with me! I apologize for taking so long to post. There are too many things to do, too many places to see, too many words to learn, and too many foods to eat to do everything punctually!
So, due to my overabundance of pictures and things to say, there will be another post followed shortly by this one! However, that will be more delayed than originally expected due to technological difficulties.
Back to related matters: this is my trip to Prague!
There were tons of statues in Prague. This one is in front of the Museum at the center of the city. This was right after we got in, and we were on our way to a wonderful Czeck restaurant!
Prague has one of the deepest subway systems in the world. The escalators are extremely long and move very fast because it is so deep.
Prague Castle and the St. Vitus Cathedral! There is someone standing here 24/7. We thought they were rather amusing, although it's got to be a hard job. Hundreds of thousands of toursists must take pictures of them every day!
The St. Vitus Cathedral was majestic. It's size, of course, is stunning, but it's architecture and overall structure are really beautiful. The problem was, that there were thousands upon thousands of tourists there, and it was very expensive to get inside.
Another shot of the cathedral.
Yet another shot of the cathedral! I never get tired of looking at cathedrals in Europe. I particularly love the windows.
Me and another guard on the way out. We saw the changing of the guard there, which they always make a big deal out of at 12, but there were so many (SO MANY) people that we didn't get a good view.
Throughout the city, there lies yet another service leaching off of the thriving tourism economy - bus tours. This was a bus we took from Prague castle to where ever it was we were going next. It has no roof, however, and we were very cold.
Shot from above of Prague castle!
"City of a Thousand Spires", is what they call Prague. However, I'm fairly certain this is the church of St. Nicholas. Or it might just be some random incredibly majestic church. Those are common too.
Next day! We are now in the old town square, in front of the astronomical clock there.
And then we climbed the tower with the astronomical clock! I can't remember the name of this church, but it sure is pretty!
This is a monument in the town square, there were a lot of those. This one is a monument to Jan Hus, a famous Protestant theologian.
This was during our boat tour along the river. I believe this is the government building.
View of Prague castle from the River!
Charle's Bridge. You'll see more of this later.
Meeee!
My host family on my on Charle's bridge! There's a wonderful view of the Castle in the background here.
Wonderful picture of the tower at the end of the Charle's bridge, The Church of St. Nicholas on the left, and Prague castle on the right. Charle's bridge was very touristy, and there were thousands of people there.
Church of St. Nicholas!
This is the theater, seen over the Vltava.
Statue at the beginning of Charle's bridge! This was in front of the church in the next picture.
Yep, no photos. Right when I took this a scary man came up to me and, in a thick Czeck accent, said, "no photos please."
One last shot of the castle and the church of St. Nicholas!
I'm glad the thick Czeck accent didn't take your camera away! Wow Nils, St. Vitus Cathedral just blew me away.Somehow, I can't tell there were thousands of tourists there, your pictures do a great job of capturing what is important. I like the picture of youuuuuu! ;)
